My name is Jenna DePizzo. In June 2010, I was lucky enough to be crowned both Miss Trumbull County Fair 2010 and the 2010 Fair Queen. This blog will highlight my adventures as queen, as I compete in 2011's Ohio Queen's Contest in January.

Summer Sizzle
August 7, 2010
The Summer Sizzle is a fairly new event in Trumbull County where programs such as 4-H, Soil and Water, Master Gardeners, and the Ohio Division of Wildlife come together to create a fun and free event for our community. This year, we were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather all day!
Tommy and I helped out with our own club's educational booth, as well as with the Advisory Committee's sub sale. All of our subs sold out within the first two hours of the event!
Throughout the day, we enjoy taste testing pitzels, making sun catching, visiting the the petting zoo, listening to music, and participating in the fishing derby.
We turned out to be horrible fishermen.
Each year, the Summer Sizzle seems to grow and become more well-known, all thanks to the wonderful groups and organizations that work year round to plan this event.

Columbiana County Fair
Our Fourth Fair Visit!
Right after visiting Medina County fair, Tommy and I took a drive to Columbiana County. To me, this was very interesting because this was MY mom's fair!
Our tour guide, Emily, a Jr. Fair Member showed us around the grounds. Although this was the fair's opening day, exhibitors had until 6 PM that night to have their animals in, booths set up, etc. Many people were running around getting ready for the upcoming busy week.
Colunbiana's fair was all hills! The animals occupied the lower half, but the upper half was filled with food and rides. Emily told us that this spring, excavating crews were hard at work to level out the fair grounds to make more room for vendors. Everyone we talked to was very excited about this fair improvement.
Even though the fair's events did not get started until well after Tommy and I had to leave, we still enjoyed our visit to Lisbon, OH, home of the Columbiana Fair!

Medina Co. Fair
Fair Visit Number Three
On Monday, Tommy and I toured the Medina County Fair. They were having their 165th anniversary! Even though we arrived very early on the fair's opening day, many shows and events were going on, which surprised us. At our fair, usually shows start on Wednesday, the day after opening ceremonies.
We were led on a quick tour of the grounds, and then shown back to the rabbit barns, where showmanship was taking place. Tommy and I were both impressed that showmanship is mandatory in Medina County. We were able to hand out the ribbons and trophies in each age group. At the show, we met Jr. Fair Board member and rabbit show announcer, Logan. Logan was able to tell us all about the Jr. Fair program in his county, and even pointed us in the direction of Tommy's french waffle stand and the Jr. Leader's milkshake stand.

Myself with the peacocks!Medina County offered a petting zoo barn, which housed almost ever animal from rabbits to mini horses to peacocks! Each animal had a sign next to them with a few educational facts.
Special thanks to Logan for his special tour of the Medina County fair!
